The air is warming up and signs of spring are starting to pop up all over Fredericksburg, TX! What is your favorite part of spring? For those fortunate enough to live in or visit the beautiful Texas Hill Country, the arrival of the lovely bluebonnet is a welcome sight. The bluebonnet is the Texas State flower and its arrival is the inspiration for a feature event called the 2014 Wine & Wildflower Trail.
The Wine & Wildflower Trail is a special event put on by the Texas Hill Country wineries and will be open April 4-20, 2014. There are over 5000 varieties of wildflowers that can be found in the rolling hills of the Hill Country. This event is designed to give you an opportunity to view picturesque scenery while you sample some of the most exquisite, award-winning wines this area has to offer.
Depending on how much time you have to explore the Hill Country, you can wind your way around to as many as 38 participating wineries. It is a self-guided tour – all you need to do is check to see which wineries are open on the day(s) you will be traveling. To start out your journey, you will receive packets of wildflower seeds donated by Wildseed Farms and the Texas Department of Agriculture. You will be provided up to three complimentary samples at each winery and a 15% discount on three bottle purchases.
Tour Tickets are $40/couple or $25/single. Click here to purchase your tickets online for the 2014 event.
To begin, there will be a Wine & Wildflower Kick-off Tasting at Perissos Vineyard & Winery on Friday, April 4, 2014. This event will take place from 6-8pm and tickets are $25 ($15 with a Wine & Wildflower Trail ticket). There will be samplings from seven Hill Country wineries, light snacks and a logo glass that you will be able to take home as a memento!
