2013 Gillespie County Fair – Fun, Food and Queens…OH MY!

Texas is a pretty big state, but did you know that the Gillespie county has the longest running consecutive County Fair in Texas? That’s right, this little town has a fair going strong after 125 years, and it only gets better and better each year!

It all kicks off on Friday morning August 23, 2013 at 10 am with the Gillespie County Fair parade and runs through Sunday August 25th. This parade is one of the longest and biggest parades in Fredericksburg each year, lasting an hour or more. Then its time to head out to the fair grounds for that great carnival food and the rides – can you say funnel cake? While you’re out there take advantage of the vendor booths, livestock show, mutton bustin’ and the 2014 Gillespie County Fair Queen contest. Later that night enjoy dancing under the stars to the music of Darrell McCall & Friends. Saturday is a whole new day, with gates opening up at 10am! More great livestock shows, more time for all the rides, more mutton bustin’, and more shopping at the vendor booths. For those of you that enjoy the excitement of racing…there will be Pari-mutuel Horse Races staring at 1pm. That night enjoy dancing the night away with music by John Anderson and Cody Johnson. If you missed Friday and you missed Saturday…then don’t miss out on your last opportunity for the year. Come out on Sunday when the gates open up at 10am. You can still catch the Junior Steer Show, the vendor booths, the carnival, and at 1pm you can take a seat and enjoy the horse races.

See you at the Fair!
