Who would have thought that 50 years ago this weekend, the community of Fredericksburg would be setting up to help the local band get a marching competition. And that evening would turn into Night in old Fredericksburg-still going strong after 50 years! NIOF is now one of the festivals that both locals and tourist look forward to all year. To some people this is what got them interested in this small town in the first place. This year NIOF kicks off with a movie night on July the 18th, followed by two full evenings of fun, food, and live entertainment. On Friday enjoy music by The Walburg Boys and The Wagon Aces, then on Saturday enjoy music by The Polkamatics, Tubameisters, Thomas Michael Riley, and Max Stalling. There will also be a wide variety of food including, Bejas, Sweet Marley’s, West End Pizza , and of course German food, brought to you by Opa’s Smoked Meats. Come out for a full weekend of wine tasting, games, music, food, rides, arts, and crafts. With this much happening, you cant help but have fun.
Hours for Friday July 19th 2013 are from 6pm-midnight and Saturday July 20th 2013 from 4pm-midnight. My personal favorite thing this weekend, is that its paired up with Para-mutuel horse racing. This year they have combined the two. How you ask? Well, you can buy a wristband for the all day pass and by wearing that wristband you can get into the horse racing for free. I don’t know about you, but for me this is the perfect deal. Night in old Fredericksburg, Thats what’s happening! Hope to see you out here.
